On 14th Dec 2019, His Holiness the Dalai Lama inaugurates the new debate courtyard of Drepung Gomang Monastery, cutting the ribbon and symbolically opening the new facility. H.E. Khen Rinpoche, former Abbots and Tulkus of the monastery welcomed him where His Holiness briefly consecrated the statues and thangkas, lighting a lamp. His Holiness brief reading on "Praise to the 17 Masters of Nalanda' and short teaching from Changkya Rolpe Dorjee 'Recognizing My old Mother'. More than15000 filled the new debate courtyard to attend this auspicious occasion and to get a blessing from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Before that the Abbot of the monastery gave a brief report of the monastery and words of gratitude and thanks was expressed by the chief administrator Geshe Lobsang Gelek.

As 2019 will be observed as the ‘International year of Great Je Tsongkhapa’ to commemorate 600th death anniversary of the founding father of the Geluk tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.
To express our deepest gratitude for the founder of Geluk tradition and to commemorate the 600th parinirvana anniversary of Great Je Tsongkhapa, a seminar on Madhyamika 400 treatises was held at the Prayer hall temple of Drepung Gomang Monastery from 7th July to 9th July, 2019 under the supervision of H.E. Khen Rinpoche, and kind participation by learned scripture/text teachers, scholars, geshes, monks in general.
As advised by our spiritual and temporal leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama in this crucial time and to offer gratitude to India Union/State Govt of Karnataka by Tibetan people in exile for the last 6 decades, and also to mark of solidarity with our Indian brothers and sisters during Nationwide lockdown to curb Coronavirus, we have made a donation of Rs.10,00,000/-(Ten Lakh) towards PM Cares Fund, Rs.4,00,000/- (Four lakh) towards CM Relief Fund, Rs.1,00,000/- towards volunteers and health workers under Tibetan Settlement Office. Besides, free distributions of dry rations, food packets, and groceries to the nearby poor Indian villagers. In total, Rs, 19,04,000/- (Nineteen Lakh and four thousand) was spent for this philanthropic and altruistic initiative by Drepung Gomang Monastery (Undertaking of Drepung Gomang Education Society) with utmost, deepest prayers and dedications of this for the long healthy life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the fulfillment of His Holiness wishes, for the well being, long life of all dedicated, loyal benefactors and long time supporters.
In all, we offer deepest prayers for the quick end to this Covid-19 Pandemic, for those sick to get treatment and cure at soonest, prayers for the soul and spirit of those who passed away in this Pandemic and also prayers/gratitude to all those frontline warriors (doctors, nurse, policeman, health workers, sanitation workers etc.,) fighting off this Pandemic all over the world.

On the commemoration of 600th Maha-parinirvana anniversary of Great Je Tsong Khapa and also the International Commemoration Year of Great Tsong Khapa, on 16th and 17th December 2019, an international conference was held at the Drepung Gomang Monastery's new debate courtyard with His Eminence Kyabje Gaden Tri Rinpoche, His Eminence Kyabje Jangtse Choeje Rinpoche and His Eminence Kyabje Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche gracing the inaugural ceremony of the conference. His Eminence Khamba Lama Gabju, Demberel Choijamts, the Supreme Head of Buddhist in Mongolia, His Eminence Khen Rinpoche of Drepung Gomang Monastery, Honorable Telo tulku Rinpoche and Agnisk datsang's Abbot representative took part in this International conference. The conference topic was 'on the foundation of Tibet's Buddhism and origination of Gelug tradition in the regions of Russia and Mongolia. Scholars from Russia, Mongolia as well as India attended this conference.
Drepung Gomang Monastery extends its heartfelt thank you to Doctors and volunteers of Jam Tse Medical Association of Taiwan for the free medical service provided for three days (24th -26th July 2019) at the monastery's community clinic. Monks, nuns, laypeople, and Indians from nearby Indian villages received free medical treatments. Many have truly benefited from their kind and compassionate support. A souvenir was presented to all the visiting members of Jam Tse Medical Association as an appreciation for their profound service.
