On 15th January 2025, Senior monks above 80 years (Buxa Elders) of Drepung Gomang Monastery were blessed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Byalkuppe. The visit was coordinated by the administrative office of Drepung Gomang Monastery. The entourage from the monastery accompanied by support staff left for Bylakupee on 13th January morning and reached back safely to Drepung Gomang Monastery on 16th January 2025. The group visited Sera Tsokchen (the Main Prayer hall temple of Sera Monastery), then Sera Mey Monastery, Sera Jey Monastery and Namdroling Monastery on the 14th of January morning. Our sincere gratitude and thank you to Sera Jey Monastery for providing great accommodation, food and great hospitality while the group stayed there from the 13th Jan till the 15th afternoon. Our sincere thank you to Sera Mey Monastery for tea and bread on the 14th morning while visiting their prayer hall temple. After the special audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 15th January, the group left for Gurupura (Hunsur) on the 15th afternoon, first visiting Dzongkar Choede monastery and then Gyumed Tantric Monastery where they were well received by the administrator of Gyumed Tantric Monastery and was provided great accommodation/fooding. Our sincere thank you also to Gyumed Tantric monastery for the hospitality.

On 26th Dec, Shri Tashi Gyalson, Hon'ble Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Leh, Union Terrority of Ladakh, visited Drepung Gomang Monastery, hosted and welcomed at Tashi Khangsar Guest House. Later, a special luncheon was hosted for the guest and faimily with H.E. Khen Rinpoche and administrative staff. The monastery presented a holy idol of Buddha to the Hon'ble Chairman/CEC and souvenirs to his family members. On 27th Dec, the Hon’ble Chief Executive Councillor visited the Prayer Hall temple and Protector room of Drepung Gomang Monastery and Drepung Gomang School.
On 26th November 2024, Sikyong Kungo Penpa Tsering visited Drepung Gomang Monastery. He was welcomed by the monks at the entrance with khataks in their hands. The President/Sikyong of Central Tibetan Administration and his entourage were escorted to the Prayer hall temple of the monastery by His Eminence Khen Rinpoche, the Discipline head and the administrative staff. After getting the blessing of holy idols and stupas, he offered Khatak on the holy throne of H.H. the Dalai Lama. Refreshment tea was served to him and his entourage as per the tradition. A holy idol of Avalokiteshvara was presented to him by the monastery.
The annual grand examination of Drepung Gomang Monastery for 2024 was held on the 29th and 30th of October. The Exams include giving tests in dialectical and written tests in Tibetan literature. His Eminence Khen Rinpoche, the Discipline Head, the Chief Director and the exam committee members supervised the exams. The memorization test was held in September.
Recent sudden torrential rain and windstorms greatly damaged the tensile roof of the debate courtyard on 18th April 2024. Though no life was lost, great damage was done to the roof which was of tensile quality. The debate courtyard is an important place in the monastic education system where monks gather for debate sessions daily as per the curriculum. An Appeal has been made by the monastery for the donations/offering/contributions so that the funds will be used for the new/repair of this roof at the debate courtyard and the debate session as well as the religious teachings that have been scheduled at the debate courtyard will goes as planned.

The Six-Armed Mahakala-Gonpo Chagdug, the official Protector-deity of Drepung Gomang Monastery. Monks of the monastery gathered at Prayer Hall Temple to offer special Guru Puja (bhumtsok) dedicating it to all the Buddhas, invoking their blessings to usher - peace and harmony in the world. This two-day prayer was dedicated to the well-being of all benefactors, for the success of all dharma projects of the monastery, and the long healthy life of His Holiness the Great XIVth Dalai Lama and all learned scholars, masters of the Buddha dharma.
On 17th October, during the tea break of His Eminence Gaden Tri Rinpoche's teachings at the Prayer Hall temple and on a special day observed on His Holiness the Dalai Lama receiving the US Congressional Gold Medal in 2007. With deepest gratitude for the over 20 years of their religious teachings/classes, Eight great scripture/text teachers H.E. Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Tenpa, H.E. Khen Rinpoche Geshe Jigme Gyatso, H.E. Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Gyaltsen, H.E. Geshe Yonten Gyatso, Geshe Tenpa Phakchok (Gen Damdul), Geshe Tenzin Chomphel, Geshe Lobsang Tendar and Geshe Dakpa Gyalten of the monastery were honoured with the holy idol, and certificate in the presence of His Eminence Gaden Tri Rinpoche and congregated monks at the Prayer hall temple.
